And, of course, what’s a horror story without frightening content? The Awakening has quite a few tense chapters and some that harken back to the days of older ghost stories, with a focus on dread-building over quick, suspenseful bits (the book equivalent of a jumpscare).
I enjoyed The Awakening quite a bit, and if you’re a fan of horror stories in book form, this is the story to check out...

And when Chris comes into his life, a whole new world of possibilities opens up. I loved Chris's mother - such a giving woman. No wonder Chris grew up into the kind, generous man he was. My heart broke for poor Marcus and his mum, and it was wonderful how help was on the way for them. An uplifting, tender story about hope, life giving you another chance, and people in this world who do things for others, for no other reason than out of the kindness of their hearts.
